Expectant Mothers

Who Can Donate
Mothers who have healthy caesarean or vaginal deliveries have the opportunity to donate. For the safety of patients receiving transplants developed from your donated tissues, we screen for communicable infections, illnessess and/or diseases.
What birth tissue can I donate?
Birth tissue includes the placenta, umbilical cord, and amniotic fluid.
What do you do with the donation?
A TriForLife recovery technician will prepare the tissue to be sent to an FDA Registered tissue organization that manufactures these gifts into tissue grafts. The tissue graft acts as a barrier to protect wounds from infection, reduce inflammation, reduce scarring, and promote healing. There are many applications for birth tissue grafts such as wound care, burn grafts, cervical grafts, and ocular grafts.
How much does it cost?
Their is no cost to the birth mother for donation.
Is donation safe?
Yes, Birth Tissue Donation is safe as the birth tissue is recovered after the birth of your baby.
What happens to my birth tissue if I don't donate?
Your birth tissue is usually discarded as medical waste. If you choose to donate, it can be made into tissue grafts to help patients with severe wounds.
Who do I talk to if I want to donate?
Speak to your physician or contact TriForLife if you would like more information on birth tissue donation.

What do mothers think of TriForLife?
Our beautiful daughter, not only was a gift to us, but a gift to many others! Being about to be in a position to donate my placenta to help others was amazing. Reading all the areas it can help was an absolute no brainer! We come from a HUGE family of firefighters (past and present) and to know that it can help burn victims was all we need to hear! I’m so thankful to that sweet lady that walked through those doors at the hospital and gave us all this information! – Samantha & Kinsley
